The In-Car-Coding Challenge

Mercedes-Benz is sourcing ideas for innovative apps! Join the The In-Car-Coding Challenge with Mercedes-Benz to expand your network, gain visibility on your projects, receive mentoring from industry experts and the chance to implement your solutions by getting access to the SDKs and APIs from Mercedes-Benz!


Name:In-Car Coding Community for students & individuals 

Scope: University students (open to all study fields), a preference for IT/Engineering students 

Location: Europe, North America, Asia 

Application Period: June 18th to October 18th 


1/ Mobile Apps 

  • Which apps could also inspire our customers outside of the vehicle? 

  • Could this be accompanied by music, entertainment and culture? 

  • Which interactions would be possible with the smartphone? 

  • Which (mobile) experiences could you create for our customers?

2/ In-Car App Inspirations 

  • Which apps could inspire our customers? 

  • Could this be accompanied by music, entertainment and culture? 

  • How could the selected route of our customers become part of an app? 

  • Which site-specific content or destinations would be incorporated? 

  • Do you prefer to consider racing games that promote the community spirit? Or parking scenarios?

Submission requirement: 

  • Team of 1 - 6 people

  • Present the innovative app idea in a presentation of maximum 10 slides, plus a short video

    • Functionality of your app 

    • How it will benefit or delight our customers

    • How is it working in conjunction with Mercedes-Benz vehicles

Prizes & Motivation: 

  1. Visibility: The team's deck will definitely be reviewed by Mercedes-Benz AG in Stuttgart. 

  2. Mentoring: Once they move onto Round 2, they will receive mentorship from different aspects like technology or business, and from mentors of different areas like InnovationLab, RnD, SW-development, IT, coming from all over the world. 

  3. Implementation: Best teams and solutions will get access to the SDKs and APIs from Mercedes-Benz AG to realize an implementation. 

The final event will take place online or offline depending on the COVID-19 situation.

DuckieTown Competition

ACM Programming Competitions

The International Collegiate Programming Contest is an annual global competitive programming competition. ICPC contests are team competitions, and normally, each team consists of three students. Teams are required to solve 10 - 14 algorithmic problems by programming, in 5 hours using one computer, and they will be ranked by the problem they solved successfully ('Accepted'), and by their penalty when there is a tie.

In HKU, for participation, you have to join the HKU Programming Contest team. Normally, we will conduct a selection contest to recruit students for participating in regional contests. Time for this year’s selection contest is not confirmed. For the latest information of the selection contest, you can refer to the homepage (https://i.cs.hku.hk/~provinci/).

Selection Contest 2020 will be ONLINE via Codeforces according to the following schedule:
Oct 20 (Tue), 19:00 - 20:00 (practice contest)
Oct 22 (Thu), 19:00 - 21:30 (real contest)
