Professor Chun Kit Chui is a Principal Lecturer (Associate Professor of Teaching) and Assistant Dean (Teaching and Learning - UG) in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). He also holds the position of Director at the Tam Wing Fan Innovation Wing within the Faculty of Engineering. 

With over 13 years of teaching experience (2011-2024) as a lecturer / senior lecturer in the Computer Science department, Prof. Chui's research / educational interests include database and data mining, as well as pedagogical research in computing and engineering education. He has received recognition for his contribution to tertiary education, including the University Distinguished Teaching Award 2024, and the University Outstanding Teaching Award (Individual Award) at the University of Hong Kong for the 2015-16 academic year and the Faculty Outstanding Teaching Award (Individual Award) in the Faculty of Engineering for the 2023-24 and 2012-13 academic years. Recognized for his teaching excellence, Prof. Chui has been honoured with the Teaching Excellence Award in the Department of Computer Science for the academic years 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15, and 2015-16. Moreover, he was a finalist for the UGC Teaching Award (Early Career Faculty Member).

Prof. Chui is deeply committed to a teaching career, with a philosophy centered on empowering students to "Dream Big, Start Small, and Learn Fast!". As a Computer Science educator, his approach emphasizes pedagogical innovation, focusing on hands-on and self-directed learning in technology to facilitate rapid skill acquisition. As the Director of the HKU Innovation Wing project, Prof. Chui has led its design, construction, and operation, providing students with opportunities to transform their innovative ideas into reality through hands-on prototyping. He actively engages with students and educators across disciplines at HKU, fostering a culture of student-initiated interest groups. These groups promote cross-disciplinary learning and enable students to explore their aspirations in computing and engineering technology innovation alongside their peers.
