HKU Team Won First Place at the MIT HK Innovation Node Blockchain Developer Hackathon

HKU Team, "BTCHoli" won the first place (University Stream) at the First HK Blockchain Developer Hackathon organized by MIT Hong Kong Innovation Node, with Algorand Foundation and HashKey Group as co-organizers from Feb 26 to 28, 2021 held at the Cyberport.

During the 48-hour hacking, the team created "BlockEstate", an end to end, fully functioning blockchain-based product. Members of "BTCHoli" include four BEng(CompSc) Year 4 students, Rajat JAIN, Naman SHAH, Pranav TALWAR, Varun SINGH, and one BEcon&Fin Year 4 student, Saksham BHALOTHIA. Their rewards include 7,300 Algos and Ledger Nano (a cold wallet for storing crypto currencies).

The other two teams from HKU also performed very well, entering to the final and getting the 4th and 5th places. They are Team "ATOM", comprised of BASc(FinTech) Year 2 students Hiu Long LEE, Nicholas TANOTO, Ai Wei DING and Wa Sui CHENG; and Team "​AlgoTrust", comprised of BEng(CompSc) Year 3 students Wesley Chak Fung YAM, Chun lai MA, Nelson Chun Ho PANG and Kwai Yee KONG.
