HKU-Tsinghua Dual Degree Programme Syllabus

SYLLABUS FOR THE DEGREE OF BACHELOR OF ENGINEERING IN COMPUTER SCIENCE FOR STUDENTS PURSUING THE HKU-THU DUAL DEGREE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE IN COLLABORATION WITH TSINGHUA UNIVERSITY (THU)

Students pursuing the HKU-THU Dual Degree in Computer Science are required to complete 288 credits (HKU-equivalent) in HKU and THU, among which 240 credits should satisfy the requirements of HKU BEng(CompSc) degree as set out below.


Curriculum Requirements

(for satisfying the 240 credit-requirement of HKU BEng(CompSc) degree)

University Requirements

  1. 12 credits in English language enhancement, including 6 credits in Core University English 1 and 6 credits in an English in the Discipline course;

  2. 6 credits in Chinese language enhancement; and

  3. 24 credits of courses in the Common Core Curriculum, comprising one from each Area of Inquiry with not more than 24 credits of courses being selected within one academic year except where candidates are required to make up for failed credits.

1 Candidates who have achieved Level 5 or above in English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination, or equivalent, are exempted from this requirement, and Core University English is optional. Those who do not take this course should take an elective course in lieu, see Regulation UG 6 of the of the Regulations for First Degree Curricula.
