Dear SE Student,
I am pleased to inform you that, in a letter to
the Vice-Chancellor of our University, the Hong Kong
Institution of Engineers has announced that
the University of Hong Kong be granted provisional
accreditation for the BEng (Hons) Degree in Software
Engineering (Full time and Sandwich) until the
first cohort of graduates. Full accreditation will
be considered following a full visit afterwards.
BEng(SE) graduates will be recognized by HKIE
as professional engineers after four years of training
and experience. We are the first undergraduate software
programme accreditated in Hong Kong.
I would like to thank all of you who have indicated
your support by joining HKIE as student members,
and especially the student representatives who had
to be grilled by HKIE panel members during the accreditation
visit.
