KE Talks on "DIY Ultraviolet Radiation Measurement Device" and "Data Analysis and Application" for Local Primary and Secondary Schools

Over 200 teachers and students from various primary and secondary schools attended the talks on "DIY Ultraviolet Radiation Measurement Device" and "Data Analysis and Application" by Dr. Beta C.L. Yip on November 25 and December 9, 2017 respectively.

Through the talks, participants were introduced the way to get started building a ultraviolet radiation measurement device, data visualization and application.

The talks are part of the "The invisible ultra-violet (UV) radiation" project led by Professor Francis C.M. Lau, and is funded by the HKU Knowledge Exchange Fund. A series of talks were conducted to enhance participants' understanding of ultraviolet radiation and its measurement, as well as the hardware and software techniques to build UV measurement devices, with the aim to raise people’s awareness on the adverse health effects associated with excessive exposure of UV and to encourage changes in behavior to reduce UV exposure.
