MakerLab Workshop on Smart-phone Controlled 3D Printed Robot Making
On November 5, 2016, around 40 teachers and students from Christian Alliance SW Chan Memorial College and Tin Ka Ping Secondary School participated in a half-day MakerLab Workshop on "Smart-phone Controlled 3D Printed Robot Making" organized and conducted by Dr. Loretta Choi and Mr. David Lee at the Department of Computer Science (CS), HKU. Both schools are participating schools of the Enriched IT Programme by OGCIO, HKSAR Government.
At the workshop, secondary school students were worked in groups of four with HKU CS student helpers to build a 3D printed biped robot and to develop an Android smartphone app. After 3 hours of hard work with 3D printed parts, wires, electronic components and screw drivers, participants are all very excited in successfully putting their robot into action.
Videos and materials of this workshop are adapted and shared on the Enriched IT Programme website as one of the massive open online course (MOOC) modules.
Special thanks to a team of HKUCS student helpers, Virgil TONG, Amos YAU, Anson CHEUNG, Sara FUNG, Audrey JIN, LUK Man Ho and HUANG Kai in making this workshop possible.
