Autocomplete Hand-drawn Animations
Jun Xing and Li-Yi Wei of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Hong Kong, along with Takaaki Shiratori at Oculus and Koji Yatani at the University of Tokyo, have developed a system that can help people create hand-drawn animations, a major art form and communication medium that is challenging to produce. The system provides a simple UI that lets people draw as usual, but can predict what might need to be drawn next based on the past drawings. This work is published in the prestigious SIGGRAPH Asia venue, and has received significant attention, including +130000 views on youtube and coverage by the next web, wired, fast company, and hundreds of other press outlets. To answer popular demands, Jun Xing and Li-Yi Wei will ship a prototype product soon.
