PhD Graduate Dr. Peng Yu Receives Li Ka Shing Prize

Dr. Peng Yu, a former PhD student under the supervision of Professor Francis Chin, received the Li Ka Shing Prize of 2012-2013 for Best PhD theses in the Faculties of Dentistry, Engineering, Medicine and Science. This is the top prize awarded to a PhD graduate in HKU. Each year, only up to four PhD graduates across the entire university will be selected for this award.

The title of Dr. Peng's PhD thesis is "Iterative de Bruijn Graph Assemblers for Second-generation Sequencing Reads". He is currently working as a Rocket Scientist at Rocket Fuel Inc. in the United States.
