Professor Francis Chin and Dr K.P. Chow Receive Long Service Awards

Both Professor Francis Chin (Chair of Computer Science) and Dr K.P. Chow (Associate Professor), who have been serving the University over a quarter of a century, received the Long Service Awards from the hands of the Vice‑Chancellor of HKU at the presentation ceremony held on June 2, 2011. Their family members and colleagues also present at the ceremony to share the happy moments with them.

Professor Chin first served at the Centre of Computer Studies and Applications when he joined the University in 1985. He was appointed as the Director of Computer Studies in 1986 and headed the Department of Computer Science for 11 years since it was formally established under the Faculty of Engineering in 1988. He had been the Associate Dean of the Graduate School for a few years before serving as the Associate Dean for the Faculty of Engineering from 2007.

Dr K.P. Chow also first served at the Centre of Computer Studies and Applications when he joined the University in 1986 before the Department of Computer Science was established in 1988. He has been the Associate Director of the Center for Information Security and Cryptography since its establishment in 1998, and is also the Associate Programme Director for the M.Sc. in E‑Commerce and Internet Computing Programme.
