Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) selects Mr. Dirk Schnieders as Research Fellow

Mr. Dirk Schnieders, PhD student in our Department of Computer Science, has been selected for the Postdoctoral Fellowship program for North American and European Researchers by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). Dirk will take up the role of Research Fellow (Guest Professor) and conduct research on "Realistic Illumination for Virtual Objects in Augmented Reality Systems" at Osaka University with Dr. Atsushi Nakazawa from September 2010 for five months.

Dirk is currently pursuing his PhD study in the research area of computer vision under the supervision of Dr. Kenneth K.Y. Wong. His publications include papers in the 23rd IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR2010), the 9th Asian Conference on Computer Vision
(ACCV2009) and the 10th European Conference on Computer Vision (ECCV2008).
