Mr PENG Yu receives Hong Kong and China Gas Postgraduate Scholarship
Mr. PENG Yu, PhD student in the Department of Computer Science, has been awarded the Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited Postgraduate Scholarship for 2009–2010.
The award presentation ceremony was held at Towngas Avenue on June 15, 2010, preceded by a visit to Towngas headquarter and showroom. The award of the scholarship was presented to Mr. Peng by Mrs. Margaret Cheng (Head of Corporate Human Resources, Towngas) and Professor David Cheung (Head of the Department of Computer Science, HKU) in the presence of Ms. Susanna Shen (Head of IT, Towngas), Mr. Bob Xie (People Development Manager, Towngas), Professor Franics Chin and Dr. S.M. Yiu.
Mr. Peng started his PhD study in September 2009 under the supervision of Professor Franics Y.L. Chin, Chair of Computer Science and Taikoo Professor of Engineering. Mr. Peng's research is in the area of Bioinformatics. He is also co-supervised by Dr. S.M. Yiu.
This scholarship, which is funded by a donation from the Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) in 1983, is exclusively awarded to selected research postgraduate students of the Department of Computer Science on the basis of academic merit and research achievement.
