HKU teams winning champion and 2nd runner-up in ACM Collegiate Programming Contest (Hong Kong) 2008

HKU Team - "far": Bryan Hui (left), Eddie Ng (middle) and Yip Lik Yau (right) HKU programming teams, coached by Dr Joe Chong of the Department of Computer Science, won the champion and 2nd runner-up in the ACM Collegiate Programming Contest (Hong Kong), held at City University on July 5, 2008.

The champion team, "far", composed of Bryan Hui (CE1), Eddie Ng (ActurSci2) and Yip Lik Yau (ActurSci1) solved 4 problems out of 6 in 457 minutes.

The 2nd runner-up team, "hihi", composed of Chan Sze Hang (CS2), Lai Yiu Ming (CE2) and Wong Lai Yin (BioInfo2) solved 3 problems in 477 minutes.

The 1st runner up went to a team from CUHK that solved 4 problems in 652 minutes.

Honorable mentions went to Lui Ka Cheong (Econ&Fin3), Kelly Choi (ActurSci3), Lam Hin Chung (CE3), Lo Cho Ki (CS2), Cheung Tang Lung (CS1), and Li Kei (CS3).

HKU programming teams last won the championship of the ACM Collegiate Programing Contest (Hong Kong) in 2000 and 2006, and were among the top three in this annual event since 2000. Our teams were ranked 12 and 19 in the World Finals in 2005 and 2006 respectively.
