A new Xbox game designed by HKU students taking the "Computer Game Design and Programming" course

A new Xbox game named "Garu" was designed by three HKU final year students, Lai Tze Ho, Soon Wei Hung and Liu Man Kwan, who had taken the "Computer Game Design and Programming" course offered by the Department of Computer Science with the support of Microsoft. This course was taught by Mr Vincent Lau Man Kin, the inventor of Q9 Chinese input method.

Under the supervision of Dr Wai-Wan Tsang, Lai, Soon and Liu spent 7 months in designing and programming this new game which based on an original plot. With their love to Japanese games, the theme song and dialogues in "Garu" are in Japanese as well.

As mentioned by Mr Chester Wong of Microsoft, students who have taken the above-said course would have a higher chance to be recruited by Microsoft upon graduation!
