A message from the Programme Director

As the Programme Director, my responsibility is to direct the development of an intellectually challenging and demanding curriculum which will meet the Programme's mission and to facilitate an effective teaching methodology to make that mission a success. I am supported in both efforts by my colleagues who are experts in their field and take their
teaching most seriously.

Our mission is to help students acquire a sound scientific foundation and an understanding of the principles and applications of the different technologies, for a successful career in industry, business or research.

As for teaching, while we have perfect confidence in the ability of our colleagues to teach well and in our sound curriculum, we also listen to our students’ voices for further suggestions from different perspectives and expressed needs. So we have summative student feedback at the end of the teaching of every module, which is further supplemented by peer and independent, professional assessment.

One of the tasks on our agenda for the next academic year is to provide more support to those increasing number of students from outside Hong Kong to help their personal, social and cognitive development. We have established The China Postgraduate Scholarships to award outstanding full-time students from Mainland China.

I wish to state here that our programme is not an easy one, and our teachers expect a great deal of efforts from our students. So join us only if you are interested in becoming a critical, independent life-long learner capable of handling a challenging programme and hence the industry and research demands of today and tomorrow.
