Learning environment and facilities
Computer Centre of the UniversityThe University’s Computer Centre is located in the Run Run Shaw Building. It provides a wide range of information technology (IT) services to support the teaching, learning, research and administrative activities of the university. All postgraduate students are pre-assigned email accounts at the time of their initial registration with the University to enable them to have access to all the Intranet and 18 Internet services. Students are also provided with a free HKU Portal account which they can use to gain access to the campus network and Internet from home through their dialup modems or use the HKU Portal password to access their Intranet through commercial ISPs and their VPN. The students’ email accounts and the HKU Portal accounts will remain valid until they leave the University. Libraries

Electronic resources include indices, abstracts and electronic journals. Most of these resources are accessible on the campus network providing a fast and efficient service to library users. Students who prefer to work off-campus may also access the database remotely through the University’s computing network dialup lines or an ISP connection. Parking on campusStudents can apply for and enjoy the parking facilities at various locations on campus during weekday evenings and weekends for a specified period of time. Students can purchase parking labels at the main campus or at the Faculty of Medicine Building.
