The VITAMIN project investigates into an object-oriented framework that facilitates consistency checking between systems specifications and C++ program code. It uses a manufacturing automation environment as a testbed. Bonding machines are very complex systems and their software quality assurance requires a disproportionate amount of effort, which can be greatly reduced using this proposed framework.

The major technological breakthrough of the project is the provision of a modelling environment for product engineers to specify the requirements of the quality assurance of control software and generate reliable executable testing code automatically for domain-specific applications. The toolset will enable product engineers to represent system requirements interactively, eliminating the need for writing lengthy code for test scripts, while improving the quality and reliability of such scripts.
